We are so lucky to have friends that invite us to ski at Waterville Valley. It's a really nice family focused resort about a 5 hour drive from New Canaan. The kids get on well and know the resort so well now that they ski or snow board together and then meet up with their slower parents at lunch or the end of the day.
We had a very chilled (in more ways than one) and relaxing Christmas Day. We had a lot of fun sledding down a hill next to the house, even though the lovely looking snow has a layer of ice which made some crashes a little painful. Lunch was a collaboration, each of us preparing a dish, eaten when it was ready (sometime in the afternoon). Low key pressies - I got a rolling pin! ... friend here in Bartlett who we hope we'll stay in touch with. We revisited the boulders and stream section of Nancy Pond Trail and investigated the little puddles and small cascades while listening to the sounds - this kind of landscape experience is one of Harvey's favorites - and mine as well.

I awoke early. Mainly due to my back was killin me and the balls had frozen off the brass Monkey. But, it was a farm, so people had already been up for hours doing their farmly things.
We went to the house for breakfast and every one was up. Most of the Youngans headed out on their selling duties at the local market.
