... gear but first we had to get to where the fish were.

We sailed sedately out of the harbour, then a bit faster. Once we had cleared the shore waters, Al suggested we went a bit faster. Well, we were clinging to the seats after a minute or two as the boat shot across the water, leaping over the surface and slamming into the waves. We had eaten breakfast and all went a bit grey at the gills as we were thrown around and splashed.

Dropped into Little Qualicum Falls, but didn't walk down to have a look. A little further up the road we stopped at Cathedral Grove where there are very old Douglas Firs. A beautiful little walk, steam coming off the old logs and moss hanging from the trees.

... stood up on my serf board under a big wave! We surfed for about 3 hours! It was hard work but it was really fun to!

... rain set in we decided our best option was to test out Tofino’s bakery an went to the Common Loaf bakery for a chocolate brownie! It was worth it, even though the weather is not looking good for an evening run! So back to the Trek Inn for a well deserved cup of Yorkshire tea! Tomorrow we say goodbye to Tofino and back to Port Alberni for a night although we have decided against camping! We found a cheapish hostel so hopefully we will still save a little bit of ...

... OK, but nowhere near a “Wow”. Checking back in at noon, they OK’d the pilot to take off, so we hopped on for the 20 minute flight to Hot Spring Island. Along for the ride was Marilyn, a First Nations woman returning to her home reserve just across from where we were being dropped off. She had been in Tofino shopping, and missed the water taxi home.
