“An oasis in a busy city”

I stayed at the Durack B & B for 6 nights and would thoroughly recommend it! It's super clean, the breakfast is delicious - home made Bircher muesli, choices of cereal, breads for toast as well as unlimited tea, coffee etc. My air conditioned room was large enough with a very comfortable double bed, soft, clean and good quality sheets. The Durack is situated just 4 stops on the train for Perth city - the station is a very short walk away (slightly uphill), making the city easily accessible. Sandra and Bill are excellent hosts with plenty of information if you want it but they don't hassle you! Such a nice couple - they encourage guests to use the outside seating areas - and there is a lounge area with tea and coffee facilities for guests to use throughout the day and evening, if required. A home from home!

Well, here I am in Perth - and very nice it is too! I arrived at the B & B about 2am and, loaded up with my massive backpack on my back and my smaller one on my front - I squeezed my way through the very pretty little white picket fence/gate and archway, bashing into some roses on my way through! I picked up my key from the meter box but in the …

Our next full day out before we leave and we are off to Freemantle which is a train ride away from Perth CBD and kind of like a separate city. (its nickname is 'freeo'. ok...) We got off the train and hopped on to the free bus service that takes you round the city. We didn't see anything that we thought 'wow' and to be honest we felt it was a ...

D'abord sur les aires de repos autorisées, nous faisons ensuite des lieux plus ou moins tolérés: au bord de la plage, sur des parkings municipaux. Met up with Tom and Lisa again on Friday night, whist me and Tom were waiting for Lisa I informed him that I have decided to head for Christchurch soon to find work. Tom is not really feeling it here in Perth and asked me to keep him informed of the job situation when I get there, because he might head for NZ earlier that his planned October date. I could happily swap Oz visas with him and be allowed to work her for the next two years!!

... on site. Needless to say, after a few glasses of wine and copious handfuls of chocolate, the day was considered a roaring success!

Throughout our stay, Matt and Em have been selling Perth to us as a fantastic city to live in and, to be quite honest; we were sold from pretty much day one. Seeing the city and sights from more of a resident’s point of view rather than as a full blown tourist on our own has really opened our eyes to the possibilities here. In case ...
