Decided to rest yesterday so stayed in Greenville and did my laundry, went shopping for toiletries and slept. Felt great this morning when I got up except for the downpour. Put on my rain gear and carried on. Saw the Mississippi quite a lot as the first part of my journey ran alongside of the river.

... 100 mansions in the tiny town built by millionaires who made their fortune by trading slaves, cotton etc along the river. Bad for them, great for us. Tried not to walk around with jaws dropped - the contrast to the previous nights made it even better. Welcome drinks, homemade cookies, a shower (luxury!), huge southern breakfast, amazing furnishings and friendly southern hosts. Watched the sunset over the river, slept in a real bed... ...

... only known for its antebellum (pre civil war) homes. We had lunch on the Main Street (yes, it really is that small) then toured one of the houses. Incredibly refurbished and maintained by one of the local garden societies.
Yup pretty quiet day. But definitely nice to get out on the road and learn random little facts about the states and towns we are passing through.
