          Bikes were still getting soaked with packs on board.
          Chris hands me the 'now found' keys and while she holds one of the sprinkler heads I feel in the dark for the padlock. And, because this is the maiden voyage for the padlock, I can't find where the key inserts. Sprinkler systems don't care if you're having difficulties...
          Finally, the lock's undone, and we're racing through the sprinkler ...

          ... don't-ever-come-here-again, and that's one way---but we learned something.

          Globe is the center of the copper world--so they say (the #1 producer for Arizona, anyway).

          After we left the canyon we came to a string of decrepit mining towns put together from garage sale left-overs.

          The towns were pretty yukky but the mines were Impressive---capitol I. You could fit whole countries in those holes.

          ... ended up heading straight through to Lordsburg, NM. We pull up into this tiny town and all three decent places to stay are booked. The only place that wasn't is a tiny motel with crickets all over the place. The guy had towels under all the doors so the wrath of the lord (in cricket form) wouldn't get into the rooms...but they did anyways. Mike killed 2 in the bathroom and they came back to life.
