    ... Next thing we were taking a right turn and the driver was informing us that the next bit could be bumpy and rough, and it was, we were on a wet dirt track crossing a village Common! Good move driver, no further hold ups and we arrived 11.30am. (The organizer had phoned ahead warning of a likely late arrival, which was okayed.)

    A 3 mile trip to Canons Ashby to deliver the cakes and to see the beautifully manicured gardens, do a guided tour of part of the house, then see the remainder without the guide. Had lunch in the tearoom at an excellent time as down came a very heavy downpour.     Weather: Friday - Cool, wet most of the day. Saturday - Mild, sunny
    Friday's weather was not really conducive to going out which didn't worry me at all. I was able to help Sue do a few things towards the party, and of course she did cooking etc. Vivienne, one of Sue's friends, came for afternoon tea where we dined on Sue's freshly baked jam tarts, and that included home made pastry!
