Hooray! Wonderful! Loved it!
This is the kind of B&B that a person dreams about. Everything was perfect.
Lovely, peaceful, great food, dedicated innkeepers, walkable to everything in town. I stayed in the Dr. Dodsen room which has been freshly re-decorated and was absolutely beautiful. We'll be back!
A Perfectly Wonderful B&B
I just experienced a special few days of R&R at this comfortable and welcoming inn close to all the attractions in this lovely town. Janet was a great hostess, funny and well-versed in all the who/what/wherefors of having a great time. The food was delicious. I feel like I've been on vacation for weeks!
I highly recommend the Dr. Dodson House...a real tonic and surely a healthful retreat.
Wonderful, Romantic weekend Getaway
My husband surprised me with a Valentine's Day weekend getaway to Dr. Dodson House B&B on 200 Cherry Street in Saint Michaels MD, it was the over all best B&B I have ever been to. They really know how to make you feel at home and provided all the comforts of home.
The owners Janet and Gary are the best! They make you feel so welcomed as if you were visiting old friends. The house was cozy, comfortable and nicely decorated with interesting accessories. There are only 2 guest rooms in the house which add to the quant feeling.
We stayed in the Blue room. The Blue room was nicely equipped with a very comfortable canopy bed with lots of pillows, a wonderful window seat/couch (great place to nap and read), FIREPLACE (for snuggling), private bathroom, TV/VCR, radio/CD player and CDs, books and magazines.
It was the perfect place to go and get reacquainted with your significant other. We did a whole lot of reading, snuggling by the fire and napping.
The best part of it all was the room service of coffee and/or juice in the morning before breakfast. Then when we were ready to start our day we went go downstairs and had a wonderful breakfast that we choose from a menu the night before. I recommend the, create your own, omelet it was delicious.
This B&B thought of everything! There was also an open bar including snacks, microwave, refrigerator and ice maker for your use in the dining room. I was great for those late night munchies.
I highly recommend this place. We are going back during crab and oysters season! There nothing better than Maryland crabs.
You can contact the B&B at ---.
Absolutely the Best!!
My husband and I have never been fans of B&B's, but about 10 years ago on the recommendation of friends, we decided to give Dr. Dodson House a try. Needless to say, we are now hooked, but ONLY at this particular one. It is a beautifuly restored historic home with many antiques and spacious and beautiful rooms. From the enveloping warmth with which we were greeted by proprietors, Janet and Gary, to the fabulous hors d'ouevres and wine in the evening, we knew this was going to be something truly special. We shared many hilarious stories with Janet and Gary and felt like they had been friends forever. They gave us a wonderful recommendation for dinner and when we returned from our stroll though this beautiful historic town, we found a menu on our doorknob that gave us a choice of many mouthwatering selections for breakfast, and also what time we wanted our breakfast served. This is fabulous, especially if you want to have a romantic breakfast "a deux" and not feel you have to make small talk with strangers. I had Eggs Benedict both days...out of this world, but so are the rest of the choices. Janet is an amazing cook!! Before breakfast, Gary brings your coffee selection and the morning paper up to your room on a beautifully laid out tray. What a luxurious treat to be able to enjoy your coffee in your room, in the robes that they provide. We felt pampered the entire stay. We have returned to this B&B many times every year for the past 10 years. I can't say enough about the experience, except that it is absolutely the best!!
Loved the Innkeepers!
Janet & Gary are the best! Their personal attention to every detail, from homemade muffins and hazelnut coffee to perfectly made beds with fluffy pillows, guarantees a stay at the Dr. Dodson House will be a vacation memory to cherish. I toast their genuine hospitality with a glass of my California cabernet!
In a class of its own
I wanted to surprise my wife on a special birthday with a weekend at a B&B. On the recommendation of a friend I contacted Janet and Gary at Dr. Dodson's House. With their help I planned a wonderful weekend that my wife can't stop talking about. The house is charming, an authentic colonial loaded with antiques. The evening hors d'oeuvres and breakfast were excellent. However, what makes it truly unique are proprietors Janet and Gary. Their charm, thoughtfulness and attention to detail made for a wonderful experience. Guys- If you want to make major points with your better half, then take her to this B&B. You will be her hero-guaranteed!
Loved the Omni
A Home away from Home
I love B&Bs and travel to many, but The Dr. Dodson House has become my #1 favorite
whenever I travel north. When I am in this gorgeous, authentic antique
mansion I have a sense of being warmly enveloped by wonderful memories and kindness. A sense of home, no other way to
describe it. The innkeepers are delightful, but also absolute pros when
it comes to making you feel like you are their "main event". Breakfast is your choice and at your leisure, a lost art.
The inn is also perfectly located and walkable to restaurants and
shopping, a must on my list. I highly recommend The Dr. Dodson House to all who enjoy the true
pleasures of the B&B experience.
As Good as it Gets
Hooray and thank goodness for fabulous inngoing experiences like The Dr. Dodson House.
My wife and I LOVED this B&B. The innkeepers seem to have found the perfect common ground between creating a private, luxurious haven...yet making sure every pampering need is met. Breakfast was wonderful, but I also enjoyed the social time at evening hors d'oeuvres.
St. Michaels is a very cute town for relaxing and the B&B is close to everything. I had a very comfortable bed (that matters to ME) and the inn is spotlessly clean. Travel to as many B&Bs as you want...it doesn't get any better than the Dr. Dodson House.
Extraordinary in Every Way!
Other B&Bs could learn a lesson or two from the Dr. Dodson House. We were hoping that our actual experience would be as pleasant as our initial phone call and we weren't disappointed. We've never stayed at a B&B with so many great "extras". The evening hors d'oeuvres hour was such a pleasant way to begin our evening, with tasty morsels and complimentary wine, etc. to accompany the fun conversation. We especially loved being able to walk to the local restaurants and shops. One of the nicest treats was getting to order morning room service, including the kind of coffee we wanted. Gary delivered our morning coffee tray, which was even color-coordinated to our room, along with the Sunday newspaper. What luxury! We haven't stayed at any B&Bs before that have let us order what we wanted for breakfast, and the banana pecan waffles and Eggs Benedict we chose were to die for. Top it all off with the fact that the house itself is beautifully decorated and has some real history to it, and we don't think we'll bother staying anywhere else when we return to St. Michaels. Well done, Janet and Gary!
Best kept secret
My wife and I stayed here last week and I must say, not being a big fan of B&B's I had a GREAT time. The Dr. Dodson House was beautiful. The Innkeepers, Janet and Gary were fantastic. The rooms were very spacious and you needed that as the food was out of this world! I am already planning my menu for our return visit.
The St. Michaels area was also a great place to unwind.
Thank you Janet & Gary we will see you soon!

July 4, 2013
This is a quiet July 4. Perhaps because the holiday falls in the middle of the week, there is not nearly as much traffic (boats, kayaks and jet skis) on Leeds Creek as in past years. It is hot, 90 degrees and the sun is shining, our first day without any rain for over a week. The garden is full; beds and pots are lush with blooms and the crop of weeds ...

... I'm told it will all work out, just be patient - now I know why sailers' are a different breed - but we also have two solar panels wired up which is exciting and Ian is at present installing a new toilet (we decided to not have a holding tank on the visitor's side) so the old toilet has been taken out. It all seems to be pretty constant - then I have the washing to do - and we have to take Skye in the dingy for her outings and swim (which she loves) and the ...

Then we noticed the tool shed (forward berth converted) was open into ...
