We see this in the small towns, how they were built very quickly on a short term prosperity and now they simply provide bed and food for people passing through. Those travellers bring no income, wealth or permanence ...

We made it to Colorado. 106 degrees through the rest of Kansas. Saw the birthplace of Carrie Nation, smack dab next to a stockade. Passed over 300 bicyclers on their trip xcross Kansas, 8 days from Colorado to Missouri. Spoke with a gatekeeper of a major oil refinery in Kansas, learned that the refinery processed crude from Saudi Arabia, not the crude we saw being drilled in every other Kansas wheat field. Kansas crude is processed in Oklahoma. Go figure.
