      St Austall to Brixham

A travel blog entry by marlwhite on Sep 10, 2014

After leaving St Austall we headed for Fowey which is such a gorgeous village at the mouth of the river. To our surprise when we walked down into the village there was the large shi Silver seas docked. It was the last thing you would expect to see in such a tiny place. Lovely shops and bought myself a casual top. Would loved to have stayed there for a couple of days. Passed through Portruan. Drove down into Polperro but once again it is a steep drive down to the village and cars ...

So the boys and I have spent or final day in Devon with Granny knocking around Exmouth this morning for cake, then Darts Farm this afternoon for a final play and fish and chips. Pendoggett

A travel blog entry by marlwhite on Sep 08, 2014

... all the way around. We walked around to Rick Stein's Seafood restaurant. I had a bad fall knocking the right side of my face and head badly. Next we drove to Chapel amble where Andrew Hawkey has The Olde House accommodation which consists of lovely stone cottages set in beautifully kept grounds with pots of flowers hanging. From there we drove back to the Cornish Arms at Pendoggett where we are staying for the ...

      Ilfracombe to Pendoggett

A travel blog entry by marlwhite on Sep 07, 2014

... The church of St Nectans on the hill was built in approx 1100 and monks lived in it for 400 years until Henry 8th came power and forced them out. It is mind boggling to be in such old buildings. From there we drove to Bude which is a lovely seaside town and then on through Delebole where the Hawkey ancestors came from to work in the slate mine at Bangor in Tasmania. We stayed the night at the Cornish Arms Inn at Pendoggett which is owned by John And Felicity ...

Gareth has now set sail from Plymouth at approximately 4pm. All feeling a little bit nervous today as the reality hits. Managed just about to get all of our stuff in the car. Fully loaded but we did it. Tomorrow is the beginning of a new era , very very excited. Enjoyed a full on day with the boys and Granny in ...
