... and into traffic to try to find my dad with the car. Once we found the car, we were immediately on the road out of Naples. My family also thought it was an appropriate time to tell me that while I thought we were on the way to Mount Vesuvius that we had actually decided not to visit the volcano at all anymore. Apparently it was to erupt any day - except it is now June and it hasnt erupted......

... has a large beach, although has black sand.
Without question, this area of Italy is our favourite and it would be easy to spend a few weeks here in the summer. The driving, however, is really bad. The roads were not built for traffic! There is a huge contrast between the luxury cars driven in Switzerland and the beaten up vehicles driven in this area where cars are just parked wherever they can, and this often means that they will get scraped!
Our next stop is Florence!

Made it in plenty of time, bought the 4,10 euro ticket to Naples and sat on the train for 20 minutes waiting for it to take off. So glad I got there early as I took up two seats, one for me and one for my luggage, but there is no getting around it... by the time we left the place was packed. Met a nice couple from Brazil on the way to Naples, we asked a young Italian couple about the correct stop to get off at and they kindly ...

... the buildings that got destroyed.
We went on a ferry to Capri. We took little buses and then went on a rowing boat to see the Blue Cave. The water inside the cave was bright blue.

When we left Sorrento we drove to Naples and took a train to Rome.

... CiaoooooW”. True. Word. Serious. Maybe cats here speak Italian as well. Not sure but it was the first true local I interacted with so I said “Ciaoooow” back. It seemed like the right thing to do. I should mention this is not the wine speaking but rather my dizzy condition from the drive from Naples airport to Positano. Two buses later at high speeds, light traffic and harrowing roads- sheer cliffs ...
