... on my list since I first saw it in the movie Under the Tuscan Sun. It didn’t disappoint!!! The ride there in mini buses was frightening to say the least. The streets are VERY narrow with hairpin turns and cars & buses going in both directions with scooters snaking all around and in between. On the way we stopped at a roadside fruit stand with incredible views and the owners served us a platter of fresh fruits including peaches, grapes, nectarines ...

... All was amazing. Rob went for dessert, which he picked off of a pastry trolley. It looked like small cream puffs with chocolate on them. I stuck to tea to end my meal. ... then airport bus to Sorrento. There is no train to the airport so either of those options required taxis and the connections are not as frequent. So feeling brave we went across the way to the commuter line.

OMG we had entered ghetto-ville. Only 2 platforms, no maps on walls or schedules, screens not working, dark, dank, rubbish laying around and lots of people. The 70 minute trip only cost 4.10 euro each which is cheap but you even wondered ...

... have been several of these places in Pompeii, not just one of each; Pompeii spans 164 acres and had 20,000 residents back in the day. Some of the most interesting sights were the small and large theaters. They were pretty impressive spaces and the acoustics were great. It was also eery to see the plaster casts of victims; these are in glass cases at (what used to be) the fish and produce market. When they were excavating the site, archeologists could feel hollows beneath them, ...
