Got to Rome just after 9am and then 10am train to Pisa.
Lockers at Pisa station are out of order so lugged my backpack to the leaning tower, took some photos and now slowly making my way back to the station stopping for coffee, food and beer along the way.
Forgot that northern Italy food options were ...
... mind up that I was going to wait until I got back, but I didn’t want to wait any longer. So Katy and I weaved our way through the booths looking at purses and going back to look at purses and being positive that I was getting the right one. I had seen several I liked in Venice, and I found them again when I got here, but nothing was sticking out (except, of course, a purse that was WAY too expensive). So I kept looking. FINALLY I saw one that I ...
Florence, Tuscany, Italy ab10Happy Thanksgiving!
I spent the morning taking an Italian exam!!! The afternoon was a little more fun, touring Palazzo Pitti with my Art History class.
It was a little strange spending it without everyone but my school put together a little gathering for us. A group of us dined on a typical American Thanksgiving at a local restaurant. We were served Butternut Squash soup with bread, Turkey ...

On the train from Riomaggiore to Florence saw some large marble processing plants on the stretch from Riomaggiore to Pisa which was really cool as we had just seen a doco on TV about marble mining in Italy a few weeks ago in Split.
Checked into Academy Hostel which is actually the first proper hostel I've seen in Italy, rather ...
Hi Everyone!
After an exhausting weekend in Brussels, I was in for yet another treat with cooking classes in Florence. Organized by my school, a group of us met with a chef for some lessons.
We were taught how to prepare typical Tuscan cuisine including Ribollita and Stuffed zucchini-flowers.
Everything was delicious & I look forward to trying these recipes at home!
I'll update you soon,
Siara
... train to Pisa and the back to Firenze.
Nothing much to do here in Pisa. Even the pizza in Pisa aren.t appealing to me.
It was just so entertainig to see how many people tried to PUSH the Tower for their pictures.
The walk to and from the Tower to the Pisa Central Train Station was a leisurely 25 minutes walk each way.
... when we were there. She hates to travel, but we have only 10 mins to catch our connections.
Of course, I knew it coming. She slathered both kids with kisses about 10 times. Parker is now accustomed to it, and I think he will miss it. He would not tell me that, but I did not see the same expression this time.
We arrive to Pisa and walk across the river. We eat at a small place that has pasta ...
... and she tried hard but Diane couldn't find anything she liked enough to buy. Now we are off to the winery for some lunch and wine tasting. The winery was called Tenuta Torciano. We were given salami, cheese, bread and lasagne for lunch. The lasagne was way better than what I make at home, but the owner wouldn't share his mother's secret recipe. And the wine tasting was as authentic as you get. The six of us were ...

Pisa, Tuscany, Italy gianliguoriDirectly from Florence, we took a bus to Pisa. I'm pretty sure no one would go to Pisa if they didn't accidently build that tower on soft ground and it leaned. There isn't anything else there really. We did climb up to the top of it though, which was cool to say I've been there. And of course I took the already-done tourist shot of me holding the tower up. My initial are also somewhere in the area...
