The roads are in such bad condition for a city of LA's size. It's like driving in Christchurch after the earthquakes, excepting everyone does at least 10mph over the speed limit in most areas, but more like 20mph on the freeways.

Our hotel shuttle bus took about 30 minutes to arrive but luckily it was very warm outside. ... which proved not to be a great place for sleep. It was the first town we went to where we had a hard time finding a place to plug up...and were ultimately chased out by an overly aggressive parking lot security guard. So we left Albuquerque in the middle of the night and drove for another few hours until we found a Super 8 to plug up at around 6am.
