Desmond House Outstanding B&B

Anne and Michael McLaughlin provide a delightful home away from home in the heart of Kinsale. The suites are large and very nicely decorated. The breakfast was a perfect start to the day. We would definitely stay there again. Great folks!

Well worth every penny

We decided to stay at Desmond House in May 2006. We went with an older couple who had just married and wanted to give them a very nice place to stay on their first night in Ireland. Needless to say, no one was disappointed at all with the rooms or the hospitality of Michael and Anne. The rooms at Desmond House are large and very well appointed and the breakfast was excellent. It is also in a convenient location--only a five minute walk to the middle of town and the harbor.

Desmond House is not the place for people on a tight budget; but we considered the cost money well spent. Our only problem with Desmond House was that it set such a high standard for accomodations on our very first night in Ireland.

Desmond House was the first B&B on our recent trip. This is absolutely the standard by which to measure all other B&Bs. Michael & Anne have put a lot of care and attention into these lovely accommodations. The rooms are luxurious and spotless, the meals are flawless and the hosts are a delight. I can't imagine that you would find a better place to stay in Kinsale.

We had a wonderful stay in Desmond House at Easter Weekend. Beautiful large rooms and very comfortable beds. Michael and Anne could not have been more welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. In the morning we were greated with cheery smiles and a delicious breakfast.

The house is 1 min walk to the town center and yet it is lovely and quiet.

An excellent find and well recommended!

Just returned from a delightful stay in Desmond House Kinsale. The rooms were very spacious and luxurious with lovely decore. The location is ideal for exploring Kinsale's many amenities, as it is both central and very peaceful. The food was exceptional and the hosts were extremely helpful and great company. We truly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back!

Exceptional Service & Comfort

We arrived unannounced at the door and were immediately welcomed in and made at home. Michael and Anne not only supplied sumptuous rooms and fine breakfasts, but provided many extras, including a hot toddy for my congested chest. The rooms are just gorgeous, beautifully appointed and the Desmond House is conveniently located walking distance from everything on a quiet side street. Our hosts offered many little extras that were often missing at other places; washcloths, toiletries and full bathtubs, but especially warm conversation and attention to our needs. Simply the best place we stayed in Ireland!

We have just returned from a lovely stay at Desmond House, Kinsale. Michael and Anne McLaughlin went out of their way to ensure we were well looked after, the room was beautiful, spacious and airy. The breakfast sumptious, the choice varied.

If like us, you are looking for somewhere to relax in peace and quite then Desmond House is ideally located, it is close to all the restaurants and bars (less than 3 minutes walk) yet with is very little passing traffic.

I would thoroughly recommend staying at this excellent B&B. It has all been freshly refurbished and the rooms and breakfast are wonderful .....it is truly a hidden jewel. Very good value compared to others in the area.

My husband and I booked for five nights but the owners were so friendly we extended our stay by two more nights. Beautiful spacious rooms. We felt right at home. Shocked at so called anonomous review, obviously a jealous compeditor.

Desmond House is currently up for sale. Bathroom in need of updating. Not to be recommended.
