Way too soon for my taste, I left Anchorage in the early morning. A minivan of "Alaska Shuttle" took me 6 hours up north, an amazing journey on deserted roads winding through colorful seas of trees. At the visitor center we took a look at the exhibits and watched an 18 minute movie about the park. It was mostly sights such as flowers, animals, mountains, etc. with not much talking and was very enjoyable. It also showed the rangers taking the dog sleds out in the snow, blazing a trail for others to follow as that is the number one sport here (dog sledding). Val has wanted to go to Wonder Lake for two summers, and Dave does not want to ride the bus. As the season comes to a close, Val has decided to take the bus to Wonder Lake by herself. It turns out to be a good choice. Val says there is not a lot of narrative to go with the story of her day; the pictures tell the story.
