Historical Traveler Reviews Delhi Bed and Breakfast New Delhi
A great B&B and a great Indian experience
What a pleasure and a relief to arrive in India and stay at the Delhi Bed and Breakfast. Pervez, his wife Ludma, and his mother Padma---these are really lovely people. They put themselves out for you and do their best to make your stay with them and within India pleasant and fun. They keep a clean, well maintained home, and Ludma's food is really great. You will have your privacy and you will have the assistance of native New Delhians. Pervez and his wife took care of my special shopping needs. The pick up car arrived at the airport. Also, I was traveling alone and both Pervez and Ludma did everything to make me feel safe and comfortable during my first days in India. I would definitely stay with them again.
Very comfortable base in New Delhi
My wife & I stayed for a couple of nights at the beginning of our trip to India and another couple of nights at the end of our trip.
We found Pervez to be a most knowledgeable and helpful host - take advantage of his tips on places to visit, he recommended plenty of sights to us that weren't mentioned in our guide book and which were well worth seeing (e.g. the fascinating Nizamuddin's tomb complex).
Our room was clean and comfortable - don't expect 4*-type facilities or bathrooms, this is a homestay and a very good one at that.
The evening meals, taken with Pervez and family, were wonderful; terrific value, very tasty and culminating in entertaining conversation.
All in all we'd thoroughly recommend the Delhi B&B, but don't take our word for it, see for yourself !!!
What a Great Experience!
I spent 3 nights at the Delhi Bed and Breakfast (Dec. 6-9), arriving very late the first night after a smooth airport transfer, which was arranged by Pervez. My time at Pervez and Lubna's home was very comfortable - they made me feel like a family member rather than a tourist, which was very important to me as a single/female and most importantly sensitive off-the-beaten-track traveler. I had the privilege of eating dinner with the family twice; the food was outstanding and prepared to perfection in Lubna's immaculate kitchen and the company and hospitality of this lovely family was priceless.
The room was spacious, nicely decorated, and breakfast was plentiful and filling -- all this for a fraction of the usual accommodation prices in expansive Delhi!
The location proved to be perfect - just about 30 mins from the airport, still close enough by car or autorickshaw to major attractions, plus located in the nice and quiet Friends Colony residential area. Pervez assisted me in the selection of sights and things to do during my stay and the program was absolutely perfect and tailored to my taste.
When you're in Delhi next be sure to give the Delhi Bed and Breakfast a try. I'm quite sure you'll find it an amazing value and a welcome change from impersonal hotel chains.
Good place to stay great food
We booked by e-mail and didn't pay any deposit. We also arranged for a taxi to meet us at the airport.
When we arrived at the B&B we were given a cup of tea and a bucket full of advice.
As first time travellers to India and our first stop it was a great introduction to the country. The food was great and we seem to be some of the few travelers who DIDN'T suffer Delhi belly.
Rooms are basic, shower are hot and hospitality great.
Enjoy
Great welcome and superb experience
After 30 minute drive and 15 minute search for my B&B, we get to Delhi Bed and Breakfast. The place is un-marked. In-auspicious beginning, but it all turns out incredible.
After talking to Parvez, the owner, I find out he's converted 3 of his bedrooms to use as a B&B. He heard of the B&B concept, liked it and made it happen for him. The place was great. Started with an incredible lunch. Had yellow dahl with spinach, eggplant, potatoes, roti, rice, and paneer with peas. Incredible fresh stuff and ate with the entire family. (mom, Dad, 2 kids, mother-in law) Parvez is very sociable.
Since I only had 2 hours before meeting a friend, he reccomends I go to Lodi Gardens and Hummayan's tomb as they are nearby. He even loaned me 1000 rupees since I had yet to get any cash. Amazing! As for the rooms, they were perfectly functional and well decorated.
Only 1 complaint. They do not take credit cards, which meant that I had to get driven to an ATM machine to pay.
Overall, I was very happy. You should stay here if you want personal service and welcome to an Indian home. I later stayed at the Taj Palace while on business. I wished I was able to stay at the B&B because the business hotel felt so anti-septic in comparison.
Colorful and comfortable abode in quiet residential area of Delhi
Hameed Pervez is very responsive and arranged my booking over email. His family's hospitality is very much appreciated. The small details in each room are warm and thoughtful, which made for a nice welcoming stay. His family is adorable; and although we stayed for one night, we wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy their company over dinner.
Home Like Hospitality in a Big City
Delhi Bed and Breakfast was a great place to stay, we used tripadvisor looking for guidance in finding a reasonable clean place in Delhi as tourists who had never been before. The reviews were great and true to their word. The Hameed family treats every person who stays with them in such a personal way you feel completely welcomed there. Pervez was an awesome tour guide, telling us places we should go and the best ways to get there, even setting up an all day cab tour for us. Even in the US we have never visited a place that treated us so well. If you visit Delhi, you must stay at Delhi Bed and Breakfast.
Welcome to your Indian home!
We touched down in Delhi in the middle of the night! Day 1 of a 6 month trip to Asia. It was a great relief to have a taxi waiting for us which we had organised with New Delhi B&B in advance! We watched wide eyed as elephants, auto rickshaws, cycle rickshaws, cars, trucks etc battled it out for road position, to the sound track of a hundred horns! So imagine our delight at being welcomed by our host (Perez) into his beautiful home (an oasis in this mad city). Perez helped with every step on our first days in India and always had time for a chat. We would definately recommend staying here for any first time visitor to India who needs a steadying hand while they finding their feet. Oh and the breakfasts were the best we had during our months stay in India.
Stay Here!!
On a two week trip to India, I arrived in Delhi and had booked two nights here. It turned out to be the best stroke of luck my whole trip. The Hameeds are great people who go out of their way to help you out. I was traveling alone and ended up sort of making this place my home base. They were warm and lovely and even allowed me to leave a few things when I went to another destination for a few days. The food is excellent and so was their company. I can't say enough good things about this place. It's air conditioned, it's clean, everything works. It's a quiet oasis in the city of Delhi. Go, go, go! I highly reccomend it.
Delhi Bed and Breakfast
I arranged for surgery at the Apollo Hospital in New Delhi over the Internet, not knowing the doctors, hospitals, customs, areas or language ... India and its challenges were unknown to me. After a two nights stay at the hospital and rather extensive surgery, I was discharged and taken directly to the Delhi Bed and Breakfast - Homestay ... where I was cared for by the Pervez family.
My convalescence was more demanding and involved than I realised, but my hosts quickly understood that and surpassed my expectations, providing loving convalescent care.
My bland and tasteless special diet was transformed by Lubna into appealing, tasty dishes which added to my speedy recovery. The meals were served in room, till I was able to join diners at the table.
I was truly pampered and treated as a special honoured guest.
I had read about the pitfalls, difficulties and possible dangers of a visit to India (particularly for a single woman) but felt absolutely safe and secure from the time I arrived at the airport till my departure. This included Pervez's wonderful sightseeing tours, shopping trips, exploring crowded exotic markets, honing my bargaining skills with carpet sellers, jewelers and a host of other activities.
I will be happy to supply further information and I highly endorse a stay with the Pervez family at the Delhi Bed and Breakfast, surgery or not.
What a memorable experience!
I had made reservations at a four star hotel but I am so glad I cancelled and opted for the homestay. ...

Off off and away....
At heathrow airport and ready for the first flight of the journey - to Delhi. Back to Delhi
We were up early and ready for the drive back to Delhi. Harish had warned us it might take 6 hours because the road was quite bad, but, fortunately his information was a little out of date as a new road had been built, and except for the odd section that was still been completed this was the best road we had traveled on to date. The journey was …
