... up and we went out looking like idiots and everyone staring at us.

Next day had another stupid idea to go horse riding. Booked it for the afternoon and we gradually climbed a mountain through forests and past 100 stray barking dogs. Great views from the top and didnt feel too bad afterwards but the day after my back feels ****ed.

Road trippin' up the Carretera Austral, Chile

... Strategic decisions along the way included those relating to food and diesel. In general, we filled up the tank where we could because petrol stations were few and far between. In some of the bigger towns, we had the luxury of comparing prices at different stations and choosing the cheapest. A miscalculation on 'fuel left in the tank' meant we did not make it to Chaiten, the town that was evacuated two weeks prior due to an erupting volcano. As Chaiten was near the end ...

out of patagonia and into the lake district

... wierd in the sense that because the roads are narrow, it changes direction of traffic depending on the day.. weird... anyways, the whole day was spent driving, walking clicking photos and just sitting with our mouths gaped wide open in awe at the scenery... we would highly recommend renting a car and coming out to this area... last day was just relaxing, roaming around town and finally boarding another bus for Mendoza and argentina´s wine district

Day 6: Buenos Aires to Bariloche & Circuito Chico!

... trip and I am glad to finally meet her in person. The car rental company is supposed to be here at the airport, but they are not. Anna contacts them and finds there is a mixup; she coordinates a remise to take us to Posada Los Juncos where we are staying the night and in about one hour the car rental company will deliver our car there. We are thankful that Anna has greeted us and smoothed things out for us! We agree that Anna and her husband ...

Looking for lakes in Bariloche!

... up doing was parking in the middle of a motorway and waited until a massive truck passed by and allowing me to complete the u-turn, much to the humour of the other three in the car! Having left Bariloche at 1pm we got back 10.30 and I was never so relieved to see a hostel in my life. So happy, in fact I managed to park the car with one wheel on the kerb! We had all gone past being tired and couldn´t sleep so we had a couple of Guinness ...

In The Meadow We Can Nearly Build A Snowman

... non-existant but we found somewhere better. I tried some wild boar jabali for dinner at a decent restaurant in town called ¨Familia Weiss¨. The tasty pork dish is a lakes district specialty and in this case was served with apple sauce and rasberry syrup. Nadine ate a flavoursome beef stew. The wine of choice was a Malbec again and we are officially in training for ...

The Lake District, the Argentine one

... summer it comes alive with mountain bikers, hikers, kayaks etc. Mountain hikes take you to peaks that offer you sweeping views of the moutains and valleys of the Andes in all their glory. Southern Argentina is very different to the north and I was beginning to realise that there is not that this country does not have.

... and dinner and nearly everyone stocked up on the Argentinian gi-normous steaks. We were only in Chile for a week and everyone had withdrawel symptoms for the Argentinian steaks! Except Lou! Next day four of the gang headed off to El Bolson a hippy down further south but we hung around to check out the town. We booked a canopy trip for the next day too. For those who dont know its being strapped to a ...
