The top features a west and east peak that offer sweeping views of Maine mountains, plains and lakes. ... historic one to an old B-52C WWII aircraft that crashed on Elephant Mountain and the remains are still there today as a memorial. The drive up the mountain took about 30 minutes (assuming you don't get lost) and the hike was about a minute, but the plane pieces greeted you at the beginning of the trail and grew in number until you reached the memorial itself (a large engraved stone leaning against the cabin of the plane). ... lake is 40 miles by 20 . Biggish to be sure. They have ice races for cars in the winter (doh) on 4 feet of ice, described by the captain as "amusing". I do know that an Alfa GTV6 with 4 studded tires makes a very good ice racer... There's a good sized mountain outside of town that has ski runs. So the snowmobilers have some options.
