Our drive from New Jersey to the Hamptons took us up through New York. Sounds daunting but the roads and bridges just roll on though Brooklyn, across Staten Island then up through the Hampton Bays.

There are a number of taxis at the Montauk station to get into the village.I went into village and rented a bicycle thinking I work out and can take anything that comes my way without knowing what lay ahead.
