... They just don't do churches like the Italians.

So I then tried the sides streets and they weren't very interesting either. I'm not a fan of shopping and that was all that there was to do. I couldn't even see a tourist information place in order to find out what there was to see, so within half an hour I was back in the carpark and paying 1 euro 90 for the privilege. ... 63. (I counted this morning: 87 stairs from the breakfast room to my room, and 69 stairs from the lobby.) My room has two single beds pushed together but, perhaps because this room is currently being sold as a single, only one of them has a pillow. ... and caught a train initially to Brussel Noord and then another train to Mechelen. We had overlooked printing off the map to our hotel which was a bit alarming but we managed to get a map from the station and walked the 10-15 minutes to the hotel. Although we were early, we were welcomed in to our Dusk room in the Dawn to Dusk bed and breakfast. It is a spacious room and very comfortable.

We decided ...

... to get moving again, but navigating the Metro this time was now a breeze.

I was happy to arrive in Paris Nord an hour early, but Suzie saw it as an opportunity for taking an earlier departing train. I wanted to strangle her for suggesting another change in plans. I intentionally booked the later departure so that we’d have ample time for making the connection, but her habit for changing things ...
