Days 41 to 44 - Grizzly Bear Ranch, BC

Four lovely days spent at Grizzly Bear Ranch in the middle of the Canadian wilderness. Its owned by Julius, a former British war correspondent and his wife Kristen, an Estonian journalist. The ranch was gorgeous - they only take 8 people at a time and the 4 cabins are beautiful. You spend each day with a sunrise drive to look for grizzlies along their river, then a morning activity like a hike, then an afternoon activity like white water rafting and then ...

Picked up our hire car this morning in Vancouver (it's a Toyota Corolla and looks like a proper grown up's car). Pete is sad that its not as comfortable as the Jeep, Nina is happy as she can see over the steering wheel. Drove 8.5 hours today and 500 miles to Kaslo, a small town in BC. It is amazing you can drive that far but still ...

... to have a bit of a sleep in!! On Friday morning we the set off for the big city, Vancouver, once again. It's funny how your perceptions change depending on the experiences you have. When we first arrived in Vancouver, as you would imagine, we were beside ourselves with excitement and everything was amazing. Coming back from the "wilderness", what stood out was the noise, the pollution, the congestion and well just the sheer amount of people everywhere. On ...

... Ranch.....very secret squirrel! Then we spent 3 nights and 4 days at the Ranch itself. Kaslo itself is a very quaint little town with one main street, the hotel looked like something out of a Western Movie. However it was obvious that it had been newly refurbished and the rooms were massive. Our room overlooked a serene lake and it was a beautiful aspect to wake up to in the morning. We spent an enjoyable dinner on the balcony of the hotel trying to determine, who of the diners were ...

... area. This hot spring goes back into the mountain via a cave and you walk through the cave it is so hot you find it hard to breathe. They have a freezing cold plunge pool then the warmer pool then the incredibly hot cave spring.

In the pool we met two couples from Brisbane and sat chatting about our travels. We left the hot spring and went to the resort restaurant for dinner. Fantastic food ...
