el jadida, Morocco quatrequart

Departure from Morocco is a long process so leave plenty of time. Flights leave early and customs is slow and thorough. Be very early to allow plenty of time. The lines are long and the flights do not wait.

Take a trip of a lifetime. When I ...
Casablanca, Morocco gloshiv... Today we had lunch with the rotary club in Essaouira and walked around the area a bit. But much of the day was spent in the van, which would seem restful, but that's not always the case. It's hard to nap with the curvy roads and at times we were driving on bumpy road. We did stop and take pictures of goats in trees, which was pretty cool ! I know Katie really wanted to see that. We also stopped at a shop where argan oil and ...

El Jadida, Morocco jpbigan... fish about 3 or more metres long and a couple rounder thatn me! when we showed interest he decided to take us down to where a boat was being unloaded and about 20-30 men were standing around unloading and checking out the catch. we eventually got to the restaurant but there was no one there so we decided to give it a miss and go for the cafes on the beach where we had pizza and later some mint tea. cafe for pizza and tea
Jadida, Morocco leahandgreg... sardines for about a buck for 5. We got a few stares and I videotaped a bit of that restaurant scene. Great atmosphere. The day before we went to a nicer seafood place that had a religious theme. Koranic verses played in the background and the walls were decorated with more verses spelled out in ornate fonts on plaques lining the wall. But my favorite dining spot was the snail salesman. Fresh escargot! Each night this guy set ...
El Jadida, Morocco hipplerOur plane hovered above miles of lush green fields lined by thin dirt roads, the Atlantic coast of Morocco splashing in the background. Gazing out in amazement over a continent I never thought I would see, my stresses released. I was in Africa. Beneath the warm dusked sky in Casablanca it felt as if everything had suddenly become possible. Later, the train bumped along, pulling forward to Marrakech, my ...
Casablanca, Morocco jmojica... hard currency - dirham. I looked for a place to change money, but there wasn't any but fortunately there was an ATM so that saved me for now. After that I went to the Information Desk, where the first thing I saw was smoke coming up from the other side of the counter. The smoking man lifted his head and greeted me with a smile.

I found my way to the correct train to Casablanca, which cost me 35 dh. From the train station I took a taxi. It was a funky ...
Casablanca, Morocco thrudurCigarette selling Kids, Ramparts, Fish Market Restaurants, dirtier beach than Paradise, Asilah, 2 nights here, then meeting Emma in Marrakech. Was a mission getting a taxi to Marrakech from El Jadida. Had a problem leaving cos Tim got beefy with some mechanic guy at the Bus station. He said he was trying to help us. Tim thinks he was trying to rip us off and everyone started hating our guts. I think Fes might have been right.
