Day 14 Essaouria or bust

Eventually as dusk fell I rode into Essaouria, the claimed destination of the trip. The camp site near the lighthouse looked pretty dire and it had just rained, so I rode the 2km into town and noticed a rather nice hotel with 5 flags flying (always a good sign) and decided to see if there was room at the inn.

... I clued in that there would be a cost, so he asked 100dh, which is more than $10 for 20 minutes of tour. In the end I gave him 40dh (about $5), which was a good deal for us and probably still a day’s wage for him.

The last couple of days were a bit hectic with the long drives, and hiking. I was getting quite tired, so when we rolled up to the seaside town of Essaouira I was ready for some relaxation. Surfing
... all of my fingers and toes. Finally getting the wetsuit off, and putting on my dry clothes, I instantly felt better. As we left the surf shop, I made my way back to the restaurant that we had lunch at the day before. My body had burned alot of energy attempting to ward off the freezing waters and maintain my body temperature and quite an appetite to fill. I ordered a heaping pile of fried fish, two loaves of bread, and thoroughly enjoyed my new found warmth.
