... in the gondola, we the rode the luge down part of the way. It's a race track, with two different courses and you ride down in your little kart and then get a cable car back up. We had tickets to do this three times and each time was just as fun as the last. Although, I must admit that despite my 5 layers, and gloves, my fingers were frozen by the end of it! ... it was the last time I would see a lot of the people from my bus (they were heading to Lake Tekapo the next morning). Sophie was also off on the bus the next morning, so I said goodbye to her for a few days. I made it back okay and got into bed feeling pretty rough. ... through arrowtown towards Wanaka, there was several moments of panic as the petrol light flashed up at 0 when we still appeared to be miles away from any civilisation. Wanaka was another beautiful scenic view, where we had a nice relaxing walk along the lake shores, a very sunny and warmer day! ... turned our to be our best bets. We completed two hikes in two days and managed to visit the town (including the famous burger joint) before the rains began. The rain didn't let up for 3 days. We planned a little for New Caledonia, kept busy with a jigsaw puzzle and books, and managed a solid string of school sessions.
