We went to Ish & Mathias in Carmel and had a walk around downtown Carmel. We stopped at a Mediterranean place for lovel falafel lunch then Mathias went off to the vintage car race and we stayed with Ish and Arabella at their home, chatting while Ish planned a fabulous itinerary for our car trip down the Big Sur tomorrow. ... elected it to our favorite town so far! Many of the restaurants just looked too posh for a family in shorts and sandals. Nevertheless we stopped at il Formaio, an Italian restaurant specialising in Sardegna cuisine and not the usual Italian - it was excellent cooking of a different kind to the many standard Italians. For a change rather than eating at a cafe or restaurant we decided to buy something from the supermarket. It was a good move in the sense that the food tasted good and it was warm, which was appreciated as we were all feeling the cold but the meal probably cost as much as eating out.
Have opted to stay in tonight so we can be fresh for the whale watching ...
