We managed to jag the last cruise to Ailsa Craig of the wonderful Waverley, the last operating paddle steamer in the world...and on a magnificent day to boot! How lucky can you get? The Waverley is an absolute cracker....you can see the engine room in all its glory and be mesmerised by the machinery churning the paddles....what a show!

The wind has been howling all night and the rain lashing. We decide to have a lie in and a slow morning. Although it's overcast it feels warm and the outlook is good. How has this b&b rated in the past?
Stayed four days while healing from strained and bruised muscles. Was made to feel at home. Great breakfasts, quiet nights, across the street from the Ryan Leisure Center swimming pool.
