Stayed four days while healing from strained and bruised muscles. Was made to feel at home. Great breakfasts, quiet nights, across the street from the Ryan Leisure Center swimming pool.

... 1700s, but no running water, and only 4 rooms up and down. Then walked to the local church to see the rather over-the-top white mausoleum where Burns and his wife were buried. After coffee, drove to "The Sweetheart Abbey" at New Abbey. 13th century Cistercian abbey founded by Lady Devorgilla of Galloway, the wife of the founder of Balliol College, Oxford, (John Balliol) in his memory. The BBQ Fundraiser

It's been a while since my last entry, as this last month has just flown in! My first few weeks of A levels were much harder than I thought and I’m just beginning to realise how difficult fundraising while studying is going to be.

But even so, in those weeks, I managed to pull off two fundraisers. The first fundraiser was the coffee morning in Donaghadee Methodist church. I had a craft stall with all the bits and pieces Mum and I have put together in the last ...

Last day in Scotland and as the weather was a bit better we decided to revisit the coast we couldn't see for rain last week. bit of a late start as Lorraine and Stew were headed down to the Cotswolds as he is on call and needs to be within a couple of hours from Heathrow. Lorraine thought it would be her last chance to see the twins ...

Relatives thought we were a bit looped with all the driving we were doing to quite different parts of Scotland, but it all depends on your perspective. In western Canada people will drive 8 hours each way for a weekend... preferably a long weekend, but we don't always have the luxury. So a 2.5 hr drive from Edinburgh to Portpatrick in sw Scotland on a sunday evening was not a huge deal. Now counting 5, with me, my mom, ...

The wind has been howling all night and the rain lashing. We decide to have a lie in and a slow morning. Although it's overcast it feels warm and the outlook is good. We drive into Stranraer as we need to find a launderette. We finally find it and deposit it in a large machine then go off for a look around Stranraer. I am in need of some new socks, I have loads at home but didn't pack enough. Just like I packed far too many skirts and blouses, I simply don't need them! We ...
