Stayed four days while healing from strained and bruised muscles. Was made to feel at home. Great breakfasts, quiet nights, across the street from the Ryan Leisure Center swimming pool.

... found all the streets we wanted but no houses there, mostly car parks and Macdonalds stores. It was nice to see some of the older buildings that would have been there in 1790-1850's when his ancestors lived there.
Did a lovely drive along the coast to Stranrear, flat seas and sunny most ofnthe time.
We have had rain on and off most days but the temp remains about 17-20 which is ok. It gets cold if windy though.

... We went to visit Hermitage ruins with them, managed by Historic Scotland. Jim decided to become a member which has proved an excellent move because as we had to wait around the Solway Firth area to get the repair done we had chance to visit a number of their sites. One of my favourites is Sweetheart Abbey, built for Lady Dervorgilla in 1273, wife of John Balliol, (of Balliol College, Oxford) who was father of King John of Scotland. When her husband died she had his heart ...

... that is packed up and shipped off, Didn't even find a seafood restaurant, We're staying in the Southview Hotel which is old but nicely decorated, clean and well maintained. The lady that greets us is friendly (you don't get that much over here) and we head off to explore the town, Wander down the main street and buy a few souvenirs then head to the harbour and beach. Just lovely watching the boats, fisherman and dogs, the sun and the water. ...

We drive into Stranraer as we need to find a launderette. We finally find it and deposit it in a large machine then go off for a look around Stranraer. I am in need of some new socks, I have loads at home but didn't pack enough. Just like I packed far too many skirts and blouses, I simply don't need them! We ...
