... stop or two along the way as we were heading to the San Juan Valley, but as usual with huge scenery, it is impossible to catch the feel of the view...or at least I am unable to. I really wish some of you first class photographers were along to take the shots...need a job Dave N.? Our first stop in Pagosa Springs was at the local Humane Society who had an advertised Bark Park.  Sheeba was able to get out and run around ...

... The local rivers though are clogged with ash and so we were glad that we did not push through to wolf creek as originally intended. Mark told us of a great little silver mining town in the opposite direction called Creed and we decided to head that way instead. It's about 20 miles east of creede. There are others here and the dogs can't run ...

... to the junction to go up the West Willow Creek Road. As it turned out, there were connecting trails and we ended up being able to make the whole loop without backtracking. Our drive was spectacular and we were really glad that we were making the trek on our own since we were able to stop where ever and when ever we wanted to. Since there were multiple pull offs and many, many photo worthy views needless to say it took us awhile! There were many, many abandoned mine sites ...

... on the trip we couldn’t have just called it quits and turned around to go back as we would be on a narrow road with several other jeeps behind us…no way back in other words. We decided that the hope of splendid views just wasn’t enough to compensate for being uncomfortable being in that position so we opted out of the guided trip. Instead the plan is that we are still going to rent the jeep but instead of a more strenuous off road trip we ...
