... The local rivers though are clogged with ash and so we were glad that we did not push through to wolf creek as originally intended. Mark told us of a great little silver mining town in the opposite direction called Creed and we decided to head that way instead. Heading back to the hotel we stumbled upon a little micro brewery called three barrels. Had to stop in to sample their product of course. The brewery was open to walk through and the shop front had ...
Big fires somewhere east of here! We think they are in the La Garita Mountains east of creede, on the western side of the San Louis valley. I took some pictures and have posted them here. The clouds billow beautifully into the sky, have an orangish tint and are very thick. We are camped in a dryish campground called River Hill campground near the Rio Grand Reservoir. Instead the plan is that we are still going to rent the jeep but instead of a more strenuous off road trip we ...
... I prepared a plate of "indoor s'mores" for the pot luck supper at the rally hall tonight. Some of you who were at our RV Seminar for LP Academy may remember them. They are made from a recipe that a dear friend gave me several years ago, Carole Rice. She passed away this spring and I couldn't help but think how much she would be enjoying this rally. Thanks Carole! This is the only night that we won't have our meal catered by ...
