Hi everyone, Colbie here! I have some pictures to show you as well as some stories to tell about some of the things we have done or places we have gone over the last 10 days. Two places in particular that were very cool were the Garden of the Gods Park (which was literally right behind our campground in Pikes Peak, CO) and then Creede, CO.

One of our last days in Pikes Peak, we decided to go to the Garden of the Gods Park. ...

Sheila and I headed into Creede, CO. This is a small town of about 290 - an old west town. Once we arrived, we walked the three square blocks of the town. I found a decent price t-shirt for my souvenir. After that we headed to the Mine Museum and Gift Shop. Creede and the area around Creede use to be a silver mining town. The clouds billow beautifully into the sky, have an orangish tint and are very thick. We are camped in a dryish campground called River Hill campground near the Rio Grand Reservoir. It's about 20 miles east of creede. There are others here and the dogs can't run ...

... to the junction to go up the West Willow Creek Road. As it turned out, there were connecting trails and we ended up being able to make the whole loop without backtracking. Our drive was spectacular and we were really glad that we were making the trek on our own since we were able to stop where ever and when ever we wanted to. Since there were multiple pull offs and many, many photo worthy views needless to say it took us awhile! There were many, many abandoned mine sites ...

... on the trip we couldn’t have just called it quits and turned around to go back as we would be on a narrow road with several other jeeps behind us…no way back in other words. We decided that the hope of splendid views just wasn’t enough to compensate for being uncomfortable being in that position so we opted out of the guided trip. Instead the plan is that we are still going to rent the jeep but instead of a more strenuous off road trip we ...
