During our walk we saw a cute little Ermine bounding around the rocks. It didn't seem to be looking for food, just seemed to be having fun. Wrote it down on the "animals spotted today" board at the visitors centre and noticed that 2hrs prior a black bear has been seen at the same spot! Eeek! Definitely not unhappy that we didn't cross trails with a bear today!

So for now, no news is good news. We are sitting here at 10 PM with the sun glaring in the windows and thinking about those we love at home, wondering how we're going to sleep tonight. Tomorrow is a new day. We hope you all know how much we love and appreciate you every day.


A day in Homer

... the fog it doesn’t look like this will happen. So we go to a water taxi and schedule one hour on the bay. The scheduler suggests we go at 1:30. Sure enough about 1:15, the fog clears and we are out for a great one hour tour on a small boat with only 6 people.

Our guide takes us to Gull Island. Off the island, we see tufted puffin, horned puffin, otter and several other birds I’ve never seen before. It’s a perfect day on the bay.

... stopped at a lodge and dinner establishment, only to find out you had to stay there to eat there. We met a lovely lady who informed us of the SeaView cafe's halibut was the best in the state. After eating there we had to agree it was the best halibut we had eaten in Alaska...of course it was the first one. Down the road and multiple stops at scenic lookouts, we decided to stop, stretch our legs and have a cold drink in Soldatna. We asked the waitress to take a picture of all ...
