... steep and at the top of it we are both gasping.Pete however is struggling to recover from the exersions. Our pace slows down, with Pete gasping and coughing after every 10 paces. My feet start to get cold and cannot feel my toes-not unusual for me.

Last day here
... the edge of ruining the motor. After it was repaired we went on a trip to Newton Abbey where Lord Byron the poet lived. Then onto a small mining village and back to the van.
Saturday we went to Shardlow which was a port on the Trent-Mersey Canal. What a lovely peaceful place it was. Had an hours walk (route march!) along the canal and back. Then onto Derby. A very old town which is now a thriving place. The park and ride ...
Stomping grounds of Robin Hood
... by a 200-voice choir and a youthful orchestra. I thought I remembered singing it many years ago with the Victoria Choral Society, but it did not sound at all familiar. Oh well, I’ve never claimed to have a good memory! I enjoyed it anyway.
Nov. 15: took the train via London–St. Pancras to Gatwick Airport and shuttle bus to a nearby hotel for the night. Now it’s time for something completely different….
