We got up at 2:30 in the morning to start our EPIC road trip of a lifetime! Then we hit the road at 3:15 and it was smooth sailing to Chicago. Annalena had no problem sleeping for the majority of the drive, and the rest of the time she was happy and excited to be in the car. It was a great start to our trip.

We took advantage of some of the offerings at the BW deluxe breakfast. Then, we checked out and headed downtown to view some of the sights, particularly the "Soo Locks" and some of the shops. At mid-morning, the area was not real busy and parking was easy to find. We looked in some of the shops , and lucky for us, a ship was moving through the lock closed to the park and viewing stand! It was headed downstream so it was pretty low in the lock.

Day 52 (June 7) -- Another not too long driving day but with some frustrations. We left Mitchell's Bay and headed towards Sarnia as we would cross into Michigan at Sarnia/Port Huron. Followed the St. Clair River to approach Sarnia-- quite lovely with Michigan across the river. Approaching Sarnia we passed a number of refineries-- must be one of the main industries.
