This travel day was not as long as the previous two but seemed longer. We traveled close to 250 miles in 5 hours keeping pace with our average of 50 mph. The scenery from Mt. Shasta to Eugene changes constantly, first traveling out of the pine forest to hilly grassland chock full of eroded volcanic plugs, then through a mixed forest of juniper and scrub pine. This is a simply beautiful state. Today I have ridden the cascade lakes scenic byway.
Hundreds of lakes cross crossed with trails and roads.
All open and free to use. Some with speed restrictions and some unlimited so at one lake it will be totally silent where electric motors are only allowed to power boats and the next the roar of an open exhaust tuned V8 splits the air at 50mph.
