We reached a former professor of Mike's, Mike Kinziger, and he now owns land and lives in a cabin in Deary, Idaho. We will visit him in the morning and then head to Lolo Pass. ... Steptoe Butte, offers 360o panoramic views of the entire region. It is not uncommon to drive to the top of the butte in the morning and spend all day snapping away. As the sun travels across the sky, the entire landscape changes its hues and perspective based on the direction of the light. ... thought this was June so it's probably OK. WRONG! Less than a mile down, our car was stuck in MUD! Thanks GOD for Bob's driving skill - he was able to get the car out of the mud and back out of that road!! Lesson learned! Our hotel owner later told us to never got on those roads after rain. Some cars get stuck there for days because nobody could tow them out and they had to wait for the farmers to use their tractors to pull the car out. OMG!!

... When I was overseas, it was a very scary feeling realizing that there was no safety net. That safety net is treated as our right here. I certainly never thought about it and, therefore, took it for granted. To know that perfect strangers are there to take care of us whenever we call them....pretty amazing.
