... in a family here and you feel like you’re cared about so it’s a good feeling. I think the brother thinks Carissa and I are crazy because she and I are very similar and we’ll like trip over nothing or walk into a wall or just break out laughing when we think something is funny but no one else does. We have a good time and I’m so glad I was able to switch. Even coming home, like when I was with the other family, Gloria never seemed to ...
San Jose, Costa Rica rkamish125What a busy weekend!
Friday night my friends and I went to Cavale, the bar we went to for the soccer game - we brought some others from our group there and they really enjoyed it. Some of my friends drink soo much...I don't know how they handle it. I think they each had 8 drinks in 2 hours and then went to two more bars after we left Cavale; whatever...it's their business. Afterwards...I went to sleep early because I had to be up early ...
... to the south) where we loaded some of our gear upon horses. Watching the Bribri pack a horse is a site in it self, rice bags and cocoa nut twine does wonders for packing heavy machinery apparently. Then we finally made it to our home-base just across the border of Panama and Costa rica overlooking a wedding of two gorgeous streams with a misty mountain backdrop. some Jaguar tracks, and all the sweet cacao (cocoa) you could eat, which I ...
Gondoca, Costa Rica bassmanms... this 3rd Sunday in Advent was about John the Baptist, taken from the book of Mark, "Behold I send my messenger before your face, who shall prepare your way." The pastor talked about how we all have messengers who prepare our way if we keep tuned in to what is happening around us. He told us a story about what had happened to him this past week. He was watching a television interview of a man in San José who sold brooms. This seller of brooms had a family - a wife and three ...

Various locations in Costa Rica, Costa Rica tropicalcr... I met Lucy and Anya, from the neighboring town of San Antonio de Escazu. They invited me to their houses this weekend and I successfully navigated two bus transfers to arrive there on Saturday! Lucy waited for me at the bus stop in the center of San Antonio. She gave me the option of a leisurely scenic hike to her house or a taxi. Obviously, I chose the hike - little did I know it would be 50 minutes of hills even steeper than ...
San Antonio de Escazu, Costa Rica semi-backpacker... has her play area, Mike has 2 Parrots and 2 dogs that will like you after a day or so. There are also 2 other libraries in the house with hundred of fiction books and other readings. The entire set up is very cool, and the host Mike, is one of the nicest people I ever met. A great host, and excellent source of information who speaks fluent Spanish. You can even have a private language tutor come and ...
Los Anonos, Escazu, Costa Rica 1mod... things up!). Everyone is so crazy about fireworks in this country. The guy who hosted has a gorgeous house overlooking a community called Santa Ana. It was one amazing view and we could see the odd fireworks going off down below! The party was all fun until the shrubs and grass caught fire and they had to haul coolers of water to put it out. Boys will be boys!
