      ... people are so highly stressed about finances and house management and health. It's always interesting to see how others live and how they handle their struggles.

      I also got to catch up with Nati, a Costa Rican PT that works with ISL and was only able to join us for the precarios. I worked with her two years ago full time at Manos. It was so nice to see her again!!

      ... lightning and thunderous tympani. Escazu and San Jose are in central Costa Rica, surrounded by mountains, and these make the perfect setting for afternoon storms during "winter." The storms often lasted for many hours into the evening. It wasn't very cold, but being outside was very wet. We both had umbrellas, and made sure they were in our backpacks when we left for school in the morning.

      ... in dollars. The bulk of the US tourists seem to depart in large parties to the resorts, and I understand many stay at the resort until it is time for the flight home.

      I think this US holiday resort trend is one we will find now as we move northwards in Central America.

      Costa Rica is in its wet season, although there are only supposed to be light rains, and we arrived to the daily afternoon shower – the mornings are clear and sunny then ...

      ... ADD because the 2 guides were mixing English and Spanish. I can see why people on Tripadvisor said $22 seemed like too pricey of a tag. The tour left us in the big gift shop, which contained every Cafe Britt souvenir you could want plus a ton of general souvenirs. We spent a while there tasting different chocolate-covered goodies and picking out gifts.
