My day started earlier than normal. The Traditional service at the North Liberty United Methodist Church is held at 8 am. The church is about 6 miles from the campground. This meant I had to get up about 6:30 in order to get ready for church. There weren't but about 25 people there, but I was told that they usually have many more. Of course summer attendance is always down some. The minister didn't really preach, ...
... void of any decoration or religious symbols, not even a cross. The walls are white and the furnishings are wooden benches. They used to go to religious meetings 11 times a week, but now it has been cut down to 3 or 4. religious persecution. They came in 4 ships with more following in later
years. They called the non- Germans, the "English". We had lunch at a German restaurant - beautiful place and food. We visited the micro brewery, the weaving mill, beautiful furniture and a good museum. Too much to see and do again, so back we went to the nice RV park and did the washing.
... the brief time we are all together here. They tried to teach me how to play uker today. Uker is a card game that the kids I went to high school with tried to teach me 50 years ago. I didn't pick it up then and I didn't pick it up today.
Now it's time to get ready for bed. Bob did the dishes while I wrote this, now we're both finished. Hope you all have a great day tomorrow and I will try to have something more interesting and some pictures tomorrow night.
