... is also incredibly deep - nearly 2000 feet at its deepest - the deepest in the US (9th deepest in the world). We drove the 54 mile rim road, which mostly hugs the edge with fantastic views of volcanic features. The most outstanding part of the visit though was the two hour boat trip we did around the lake with a geologist explaining the various features. It was fascinating and afforded the best views of the Lake and Ranger Tim was an excellent guide.

... jam-packed, but is a real gem. It's filled with towering Douglas Fir trees which give just enough shade to keep it comfortable. It's been in the mid-eighties most days with no rain of late. We checked in with the rest of the crew who have arrived at Shady Cove on the Rogue River (fitting huh) we will link up with them tomorrow at about midday.

Had a great dinner with Bob and Vicky, and will visit their camp in the morning before heading into Bend and Wildhorse Harley ...
