... favourite, with the cathedral's plain ceiling covering a series of smaller shrines, including that of St Cuthbert. Back outside, we visited the Cathedral Library via the cloisters. A librarian (a Kiwi) gave us an impromptu chat about the 13th century building, which used to house the refectory and the dormitories. Went back through the cobble paved alleys of town. Drove to York. Found the hostel and had dinner at Michael's Brasserie. Yorkshire Pudding for each. Lots of liver. Ate it ...

... all still wearing their headphones (tripwires for toilet bound me!) With ninja skills like that I should be at the Olympics, I'm wasted at Fox's. It seems like everyone on the plane is asleep apart from me. I'm bored and walking around the plane writing this. I think we must be going over Brisbane now, almost there. Just another 2hours 40minutes. Woop! I'm gonna see if I can get another hot snack. I'm not actually hungry I'm just bored and yesterday ...

... largest number of medieval stained glass windows in all of England. These windows are glorious in their intense colour and intricacy. During WW 2, the tens of thousands of window panes were removed and stored in a safe place to avoid the bombing, although even the Nazis recognized its significance and beauty, so they intentionally avoided bombing it.

... they tell me they've just changed my seat number so that I can have a window seat. That was it, wasn't getting a cavity search or anything, just a seat change. Marched back to my chair with a smug look on my face, I could tell all the other passengers were wondering what had happened. We board the aircraft, nice and plush, I like Emirates Airlines, they seem to be a bit above the rest. Definitely better than when I flew with BA. But that's another story.
