Historical Traveler Reviews Colson House Brighton
Fabulous
I and four friends stayed in colson B&B for 4 nights and as a regular to Brighton i can honestly say this place is top of the list.
The rooms all have names of famous actors and i was in the Judy Garland which was crispsly clean and spacious. The room had a dvd and tv and there was the little extras which made it special like the judy DVDs. The shower and toilet room were again so so clean.
The breakfast in the morning was lovely and freshly cooked and nothing was too much bother for the owners Mark and Eamon.
So now on to the owners, from the moment you stepped through the door you are made so welcolm and they were helpfull funny and cant do enough for you.
If you are going to stay anywhere in Brighton stay here!!!!!!!!
A home from home
Staying at Colson House is like staying at a good friends house. You are made to feel really welcome and are looked after well. Mark and Eamon are great guys and, unlike other places I have stayed in, they care about their guests.
I stayed in the Judy Garland room which was very clean and the bed was lovely and comfortable with crisp white sheets, I slept really well every night. The room has a small ensuite shower room, which again was clean. The room did not have the feel that a thousand other people had been there before, like many hotels have, and that makes a big difference.
As a single traveller I did not feel lonely and isolated at all. The breakfast room has a warm and friendly atmosphere which is mainly due to Eamon's friendly personality and hilarious sense of humour and the guests all chatted together.
The breakfast was lovely and it was nice to be waited on. Nothing was too much trouble.
The prices for this hotel are very reasonable for Brighton, especially considering the cleanliness and care taken with the property.
I can really recommend this hotel and would definately go back. It is an old building though so expect to be able to hear the other guests in the room above walking about. This did not keep me awake though but if you are are a light sleeper and early to bed sort, you might want to book a room on the top floor.
Absolutely Smashing!
From before we arrived Mark and Eamon were great hosts! A call at 9:30pm to see if we were 'ok' arrived from Mark, as we were late and had been stuck in traffic trying to get out of London for several hot and sticky hours!
We were very well looked after, staying in the James Dean room, which was just perfect, peaceful and very comfortable. After busy days out at the beach and bars, 'Colson House' was the perfect place to kick our shoes off and relax, and have a lovely break from the City.
Many Thanks to all of the staff from 'Colson House' - we hope to be back soon!

Highly recommended!
Stayed 4 nights in John Wayne room. While the room is not big, it is very tastefully done and the bathroom is of a reasonably good size. We were made to feel very welcome. The full English breakfast was very well prepared and tasty. The hotel is also very ideally located.
Relaxing , quiet and so charming
From the moment we arrived we were made to feel relaxed and welcome. The whole of the guest house is wonderfully clean and charming and so well situated for quality cocktail bars and restaurants.
Mark & Eamon are perfect hosts will be definately be going back soon.
Great place to stay
29th April 2006,
I have just paid a short visit to Brighton and had the pleasure of staying at
Colson House Hotel / Guest House in Upper Rock Gardens Brighton.
Owners Mark & Eamon extended a warm welcome and the room I stayed in
was extremely comfortable and very clean with en-suit facilities (an added bonus).
The Hotel / Guest House was central in location with an abundance of Bars, Bistros
& Entertainment within easy walking distance.
I must again thank Hosts Mark & Eamon for their hospitality and attention to detail.
Excellent Value, would definitely recommend.
Excellent alternative to a Hotel, The price is excellent value for money in Brighton and Mark and Eamon make you feel very welcome. The house is very clean and the addition of things like a fridge in the room make a difference, you can have a proper cup of tea. We visit Brighton a couple of times a year and will definitely be returning to Colson house.
Nice B and B
Stayed for 2 nights in the Clark Gable room and it was lovely - spotless and comfortable. Eamon and Mark are really friendly hosts.
Great B&B
Stayed at the colson house for 5 nights in Feburary the James Dean room (the smallest in the house) room was fine, clean, warm, and all you need from a b and b the hosts were pleasant and friendly and cooked a fantastic breakfast. All in all would fully recomend it to anyone looking for a good nights rest
Great Hotel
My boyfriend and I stayed at the Colson House Hotel the weekend before Valentines Day and had a great stay - even a free bottle of champagne was included with the room! We stayed in the Audrey Hepburn room which has an upstairs bathroom. I can vouch for the power shower in this room and everything was spotlessly clean. The room itself, although small had everything we needed and the bed was comfortable and clean. I'm a vegetarian and I can thoroughly recommend the breakfast provided. Good hearty portions and all served quickly and with a smile. The hotel itself is located about 2 blocks from the sea (you can actually see it from the front door) and is only a 10 minute walk from the heart of Brighton. I'd thoroughly recommend this hotel and will definately be going back.
