It was such magical time this Thanksgiving. ... I felt awful for cutting our trip short, but after 100 days of travel my body had decided it had been pushed too far. Icecave dropped me back at the farm and I walked inside, tail between my legs: the adventurous Skywalker couldn't even hack it 2 days at some hotsprings. When I got inside I was barraged by hugs, then sat down on the couch and forced a hot chocolate. I was so grateful to have a place to bunker down in until I felt better.

... my coldest ski gear for spring skiing. Severe storms predicted across the mid west today. Getting a bit worried about our Denver Miami flight tomorrow.

wondering what lies beyond it if I were to continue on the trail, one which
continues on for many miles and goes much higher. I’ve spent a lot of time skiing
in Vail over the years but have often wondered what lies further north of I-70,
one of those pockets of terra incognita in my Colorado travels. Someday I’ll
make it up the dirt road from Vail to Piney Lake in that area.
While I was still in South America over the summer months my
brother Doug was in contact about a September visit to Colorado for some hiking
while he’s still more or less a free man, a last hiking hurrah in the Rockies
with his bro. He’s getting married in November. I left the lodging planning up
to him while I came up with some varied hiking possibilities ...
