... bus or $12something if own fault), finally got a go at 8 30pm.

Thats over 16 hrs gone on the highways from concord, new hampshire, to DC (arriving by midnight).... Dry bread with jam n cream cheese and fruits along the way (a LOT more apples than one can probably imagine), nothing was more comforting than multiple servings of hot chocolate for midnight supper....

After that small ordeal, things can only get better... warm sunny ...

... weather). All the midshipmen (as the Naval cadets are known) gather here at Bancroft Hall, which covers 33 acres and holds about 1700 rooms where the 4400 midshipmen live. At Formation, the midshipmen gather in their groups, and march one company at a time in to lunch, while the brass band plays Anchors Aweigh and the Marine Corps Hymn.



There is also a great museum on the campus, giving the history of the US ...

... Hall in Philadelphia which used to be the equivalent of the now US Capitol, wow what a difference. It is beautifully designed and is massive. It originally burnt down during the war by the British in 1812 which I think did them a favour anyway as it wasn't big enough, so it was redesigned a couple times and rebuilt.

We basically stayed on what is called the National Mall (where all the monuments are) for the day. There are beautiful parks/gardens ...
