... but it takes so long to get back on a bus so we just stayed on it.
We drove past the Farmers Markets that began many yeas ago with one farmer asking other farmers to bring his goods to sell and now it is huge. Saw
pink's hot dogs which people queue up for 2 hours for and pay $10...
next we drove past Paramount Studios where the big water tower is and their studio lots which is massive..
We then went downtown on the bus thru Chinatown ...

... numbers dwindled in comparison. Santa Monica is like a little town on the coast with shopping areas, cafes and bars. Hollywood is fake, it's an area created for tourists to align themselves with the filming world. Santa Monica was real and seem to make you more aware you were in Los Angeles as a whole, rather than in some makeup world. I think Los Angeles is not just about Hollywood and its glamour but about the city as a whole, a massive city. ...

... would have been fine if the wide shoulder wasn't exclusively used as a car park for the surfers and beachside residents. We had to anticipate the opening of car doors, whilst at the same time try and avoid the incessant passing traffic. Steve's mirror was coming in very handy.
