... and a separate lane for the joggers/walkers too. It was like being on your own road & keeping to the right of course and doing our own speeds and taking over at will. We saw two dogs out for walkies, pulling his master along on his skateboard. Pitt stop required as the sun had taken its toll and the dry lips indicating a water stop was next. ... d often see people on muscle beach working out, or people roller blading with their dog or pushchair. A different world! Anyway back in Santa Monica after our action-packed day we spent the rest of our time chilling out. When we did have our beach day we also hired bikes and cycled around on the dedicated beach cycle paths, along to Venice Beach. ... impossible to meet up with people in a place so vast. Back to the Hotel shower change and back to the pier but our intended eatery on the end of the pier had closed, so a hasty alternative was found but again it was a late night.

Consequently, the San Luis Obispo Coast District catchments, which shared water with the Hearst Ranch, were down to one third of normal capacity, not nearly enough to carry the Castle thru the summer. The Castle's outdoor Neptune Pool, which was leaking 5000 gallons of water a day thru several cracks, was closed for repairs.
