... tour and we see heaps of cool places like the house that Michael Jackson died in, the school where Glee is filmed, even where Chris Brown beat up Rhianna!!! Our tour guide really knew his stuff and was clearly obsessed with all things scandal and death in Hollywood. Best $40 we spent!

... pier of course. There is a run down dump of a hotel next to ours called Hotel California. Is it THE Hotel California? We went for a walk to the beach and along the pier - in the middle of the day, without hats and on what we later found out to be the hottest day of the year so far. ... and it was very cool to be at the end destination of the route 66. We learnt a lot about the history of the pier and found it particularly brilliant that Charlie Chaplin was the first to anchor his boat and fish on a regular basis there. It was also interesting to discover that the pier isn't just one pier, its two! They had to build the second pier to put Pacific Park at the end of it. Our first hand example is of seeing a guy just casually toking on his crack pipe a couple of feet away from us in broad daylight when we were sat on some bleachers.
