... and made quick time through the rolling hills. Hogback Mountain Gift shop gave us a place to stop for a picture and an ice cream cone. We were disappointed that the Concord, New Hampshire Walmart prohibited overnight parking but just a short ways down the road we found a roadside picnic area for a night of boondocking.

We have spent the past few months thinking that this trip will be either totally amazing, or the worst experience of our lives (honestly, I bet it will depend on the day) and we will not know how it will go until it is too late!

... than downhill ski boots so she makes good time back to the equipment hire, where she swaps her skis for snowshoes, as you are not supposed to walk the groomed trails in just boots. The change has mixed results, as the ski boots have rounded heels with nothing to stop the snow shoe straps from slipping off.
After lunch we move to another area further up the valley for more trail skiing, and Dianne has better luck with the snow shoes after changing to her ...
