    ... one of the many times we can but sigh that the trip didn't take place in the summer as originally planned. At the beginning of June we'd have had daylight until at least 9pm at night and could easily have bagged these two. But at the end of October even Lands End is a bit silly as we'll be there at 6pm in the pitch dark, but it's too 'big' a target not to say we've been.     Gales and rain overnight meant for not so much sleep. Then up early to get ready before Jo and Irf picked us up and took us to the airport. So nice going from Exeter but it is certainly the poor relation to Bristol - so small.     On our way to Sidmouth we stopped Restormel Castle. We are definitely getting our monies worth from our English Heritage pass. With this pass (that we bought in Dover in June) you get free admission to all English Heritage sites and a discount (half price) in most other sites throughout England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.     Lyme Regis (pebble beach) - we woke up and were excited because it was our last few days in England. First we drove over to the pebble beach in our hire car. There we tried to find fossils but it was no use because it was the wrong time of day and the tide was too high.
