    After poking around town I finally put my boat in the water. I decided to paddle Skamokawa Creek. It was windy on the Columbia and the narrow creek afforded some cover. It was tricky at times and the flow sped up occasionally and the wind would push the lite bow left and right.

    ... Watching the huge barges go by, the fishing boats nearer shore and checking out the driftwood beach with the dogs. The vistas and atmosphere of this park were outstanding. The following day was on to the highly rated Seven Feathers RV Park in Canyonville, OR.

    ... we could not get in due to the shutdown. We found two nice little state parks one was the old fort where Lewis and Clark spent the winter when they came to the Pacific Ocean on their trek across the country. It was later made into a fort used during WWII and now you can walk through all the old concrete buildings. The other state park had a shipwreck and big mossy trees. ...

    ... swimmers at the swimming pool entrance. When I went to take a picture at the pool, I found a lovely playground made of smooth concrete and metal artwork. I decided to stop and have breakfast since it was noon by this time.
