Buda & pest I love you
... the second night of Christmas my true love gave to me, niiiiiiine random couch surfers! (2 swedes, 2 Italians, 1 Hungarian, 1 Swiss, 1 Spanish, 1 Romanian and me!) it was a very nice mix of people and we had a lot of fun and a lot of laughs! We danced and partied the night away. Well actually we had to, as 4 people of the group had a bus leaving at 4am and they had no place to stay so partying was the only option...don't think you'll ever hear me complain about ...
Free day in Budapest

After our long day we headed back to the hotel to rest before dinner, tonight we all went out together to a BBQ place where we could get any meat we wanted and lots of side dishes. It was a yummy dinner and a great night, we ended up staying at our table for 4 hours just chatting away. Some of us then headed out to a local bar for a few drinks to meet some locals before heading to bed.

... interesting experience, it is not one I need to repeat.
Last night I started to feel sick. I think I have come down with a flu or bad cold. Today I basically rested all day, sleeping and watching movies on my laptop. Luckily I have plenty of Cold medicine, but it has ruined my plans for seeing more of Hungary. Hopefully I will feel somewhat better by Monday when I am set to travel back to Vienna.

I ended up following others through one of the doors on the side, passing by a priest asking for donations (we had heard last night that you do not have to pay to get in, you just pay if you want), through a heavy purple curtain, into a darkly lit masterpiece of a church. Relaxing in Budapest-Sunday and Monday
... but we had a good look at the church and listened to the choir and organ music. From there we walked to the Parliament Buildings where one building had black metal balls on the wall to represent the people shot during the unsuccessful uprising against the Soviets in 1956. Along the Danube River is a small memorial of metal shoes on the embankment where people were shot and fell into the river. A very poignant reminder that all was not peaceful in ...
