    ... fantastic new showers and is out of the town noise. There is 1 hr free wifi. The grocery store is a short walk, and so is the public library with free internet and air conditioning in this 100F heat. Sadly this is another town with a lot of empty store fronts and a sense of great loss from what it used to be.     ... and their historical society has done a wonderful job of marking sites, but I find it loud and busy for a small town. The park area we are in however is very peaceful.... all we here are ducks and blue jays. We will move on to Lock # 5 in a day or so where we are told we can dock overnight in a pretty park, and then on to Mechanicville at Lock #3. ...

    Thanks to Otto, I was able to squeeze in another paddle before the end of my season. He drove all the way down to the lower Hudson at Lake Luzerne from Saranac Lake to accommodate me. His grandson Milo was staying with him so I got to meet him.
