... glass vase in shame of the eternity mauri symbol), I think I would cry for months if it got broken through customs! Therefore I came away empty-handed and headed back to hotel for that rest!
We had dinner, and was sat with the true characters of our trip! They had me laughing so much! Plus our coach driver Megan was giving us insights into NZ, and revealed that she could do the Haka. Alas she wouldn't ...
Hello again!
Just a quick note before I dive into the serious business of updating you on my travels. I have had many emails and queries from members of the public in recent weeks as to the whereabouts and / or well-being of Mr Ned Millington Buck. Now, it's clearly not his show but I have a duty to my fans so I am happy to report that everyone's favourite triple named traveller is now a television executive in Hong Kong. Of course he is. He sent me an ...
... when theres more water flowing! There was a trail leading to some caves so we had an explore till we found them, although they were quite small caves! We also stopped in on Shag Point because you could potentially see seals and penguins, we didnt see any though, just some shags (a type of bird - honest!). We had to drive down a really steep hill to enter the town - quite busy compared to some we've seen so far. We ...
DunEEdin, South Island, New Zealand mirja... look inside the huge cathedral there - beautiful stained glass windows and a massive pipe organ! Had a quick lunch at Mac Donald's and then walked down to the historic and very pretty railway station. By then the kids were getting itchy feet and really wanted to go on the Cadbury Chocolate factory tour, even though our tour didn't start for over half and hour. We went there anyway, and ...
Dunedin, South Island, New Zealand alvrez... in the wall! That wiped out about 2 hours as the jack refused to lift the weight of the van. Luckily a friendly North Islander with a 4WD had the same jack and let us borrow it. We drove to Invercargill late afternoon and bought a new tyre but it was too late to buy a new jack. We drove on to Bluff, the port of Invercargill. Bluff is virtually the south end of SOuth Island. Yes, Chris had also been to Bluff on refridgerated cargo ships. More about Bluff in the next episode!
Dunedin, South Island, New Zealand caledonians... the sun started to shine, and vibrant green hills emerged from the fog. I was surprised at the green - probably because we haven't seen green hills around Melbourne for a while; it was beautiful. Lots of sheep on the hillsides, and plenty of birds. The port itself has a section with a huge number of logs, and a large wood chipper right beside. While we were waiting for the shuttle bus, a tractor started work on the pile of wood chips ...
Dunedin, South Island, New Zealand mkconwayAfter breakfast I left the hotel to get some more deodorant as the one I had bought the previous day had packed up after two squirts, even though it had promised 25% free!!!!! At this time ( 0730 ) it is easy to see that Christchurch is like any other city. There were a few dodgy looking characters hanging around in the square and a few bottles left over from the previous night. Also it looks like cyclists have the ...
Dunedin, South Island, New Zealand altheclem... they had a beautiful cat Lixy, a lilac burmese and an exceptionally well behaved golden retriever, Lucca. We took Lucca for a walk to the beach that afternoon and had coffee. With other friends joining us we had some nibbles before heading out to the Pub to enjoy watching Auckland lose the cup to Wellington. A whole lot of wine and beer later we crashed. Sunday 21st September The plan to start the day was to walk up the steepest street in the world, so ...
Dunedin, South Island, New Zealand therhodesies... out, I saw 3 piles of cd's underneath a shelf of DVD's. They were clearence cds, yaaay! I got a really cool summer compilation one for $4.97 (£1.90) and a cd of Spanish music for $1.97 (75p) Result! For those prices I didn't care too much if they were rubbish! But they weren't so that was cool :) Chuffed with myself, I headed on towards Dunedin, deciding to stop at Nugget Point on the way. At Bulclatha, it was still 15km to the point and the light was fading fast. Blimey, this was ...
