Skagway is such a cute old town. It is still alot like it was in the Gold Rush Days. It is really a town full of history and tales. We had a great time just enjoying walking around and catching all of the sights. We had lunch at the Skagway Brewery and it was good too.

Early embarkation at 7am to meet our tour at 7;30am in the port town of Skagway. Today's major activity was with Chilkoot Charters and Tours. Our guide was a lovely young lady named Stanley which we thought was unusual for a girl but we found out later her real name was Beth and Stanley was a nick-name given to her when she joined a sailing ship which was in the Pirates of the Caribbean. Saturday August 30th - Skagway, AK - Day 54 of Caravan

At 12:15 PM we gathered at the train station and boarded the White Pass & Yukon train for a 3 hour ride. My cold isn't getting any better yet but we really enjoyed the trip and all the various sights along the way. We had done this trip about six years ago when we came to Alaska on a cruise ship. Some family members may remember this trip. ...

... I captured the best videos with the camera. You remember, the ones we can't see on the iPad. Loud cannon like booms could be heard clearly as the calves of ice fell from the glacier into the bays. The captain turned the ship to begin our journey to Haines. Luckily, we had captured my photos before the fog/clouds settled over the glacier. Bojan just arrive with the evening canapés. Time to get ready since we're dining in the Toscana restaurant ...

On our way to Haines, we stopped at our favorite bakery in Haines Junction. We picked up lasagna and other sweets. We went through Customs and continued our journey. While driving, we noticed a black object coming toward us down the center of the road on the other side. As we got closer, we saw the object was a black bear with her two babies following behind. As the bear family passed us, one of the cubs gave us a curious ...
