Preparing for the journey

A travel blog entry by holyfamilyyouth on Jul 11, 2015

Today is our last day of preparation before we head out to Cincinnati for our high school summer mission trip with the Franciscans for the poor. The adult leaders have already picked up the rental vans and have been driving them around to get used to the new vehicles. Two mini vans for Andy and Joe and I get the shiny new SUV. The village was really pretty and we enjoyed walking around seeing the sights. There was a wooden covered bridge that we were able to walk through as well as lots of neat shops. We had to get some popcorn and a cupcake since we were in need of a snack ...

GO AWAY, BUGS! Go AWAY!!

A travel blog entry by oregonnscaler on Jun 02, 2014

You know, we were hoping that when we left the upper peninsula area, the bugs would stay behind. But that was obviously foolish thinking! Gnats and mosquitoes have been a continual nuisance all along the way.

We left Houghton on Sunday and headed east across the peninsula to Marquette, then followed along the south edge of Lake Superior, then turned south and crossed over the peninsula to the north shore of ...
