We had a 0700 start out of Blythe to beat the heat. Rode south for 35 miles (56 kms) before we hit a roadblock mounted by the US Border Patrol. There had been some flash flooding & there was water on the road. The Border patrolman told us the roadblock was just because of water on the road. ... was long and leisurely, almost 2 ½ hours, a bit too long. By the time we returned, the kids were asleep in bed, to our amazement. Normally, Mark and Cheryl fall asleep first. This may be the earliest the kids have gone to bed on the trip.
