So we were warned about "Grey May" and "Gloomy June" but didn't really believe it till it happened.....And for us there is more than one reason our May is so grey!

We left early. The GPS had a hissy fit trying to get us back to Coronado. We came part of the same way as yesterday, but he chose a few new streets. Ed finally took over and got us out a loop before the thing went back to his original route. It has been suggested that we give the GPS a name. Some times he is like the Wizard ...

... than some of the other beach communities and has a huge pier also. Lots of surfers and funky, divey restaurants and bars. We headed to Hodad's which is another Diners, Drive Ins and Dives recommendation. The line was down the sidewalk when we got there, but fortunately for us, we had the right number of people in our party and managed to quickly score a front window seat that opens into the sidewalk. Our waiters were all surfer dudes, with tattoos ...

... It Hot, with Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon, was filmed.

Since we hadn’t stopped for lunch, and had had nothing to eat since breakfast, our first order of business after dropping our bags was lunch/dinner (linner, as we call it). The bell man had suggested a casual dining area called Sheerwater. Wonderful service, great food. Mark and Cheryl had the surf and turf, which Josie shared with ...
