... The show "One" has made a big impression on Mac and Josie. Mac said he could see it again. They can't get enough of listening to Michael Jackson songs. It was very well done.

We are not resort people - we prefer smaller hotels that exist in towns where the restaurants and shops are independent. We'll be hitting a few resorts over the next week, but I can't imagine our opinion changing. I think we understand ...

Shopping in San Diego

... home. Cathy got some hiking boots for $119 that she had tried at home before we left. Price tag then was $279. I wasn't quite so lucky looking for mine - but I'm more fussy.

We caught the trolley back to Fashion Valley and did lots more shopping, then got taxis back to the hotel.

Tomorrow, it's off to San Diego Zoo.

  • See my dear friend in Florence (and have her show me around the city!)
  • Visiting nearby cities
    • Window shop in Milan, especially in La Galleria Vittorio Emanuele, and watch an opera in La Scala
    • Tour a balsamic vinegar factory in Modena, and buy some to take home.
    • Hang out/go out at the neighboring University of Bologna (also, go to MAMbo) ...

    ... to the fine age of 102 welcomed us to the convent in El Monte. Not a bother on her still buzzing around the place without any help needed at all. Picture myself and Hols sitting at the dinner table surrounded by nuns. Was so tempted to break into a sister-act medley throughout the afternoon but thankfully I managed to supress it.     ... margaritas, so we had 2. On the way we wandered throught the Hotel del Coronado. It is very elegant and enormous. It takes up several blocks, it feels to me like it was a great place to be many years ago, and while it is well kept, it feels to me like it is past its heyday, kind of seems like the resort in he movie Dirty Dancing (although the one in the movie was not at the beach).
