Nice easy day in Coronado. Staying at the Cherokke Lodge - a restored old home with rooms full of antique furniture and within walking distance of 'liquid refreshments'. Left Yuma early to try to avoid the heat across the last of the desert. Short ride to Coronado (180 miles - 290 kms). Pretty happy when we started the climb over the final mountain range (4200 ft) into the cool air and then dropped down into the breeze off the Pacific Ocean. ... in San Diego). The Gaslamp area of the town which is the most Historic is a mix between New Orleans, Mexico and Europe and is a big hit with the 21-30 age group, it's a real party town.
