... br> After returning to Port Alberni we went out for dinner and ventured out onto the wharf in Port Alberni - no photos as it was too dark - however the estuary, mountains, lights and clouds in the sky were all breathtaking to look at.

Tomorrow, Day 18 will include a ferry ride from Nanaimo to Vancouver, and in the afternoon, I will return the rental motorcycle to CycleBC.

Headed to Tofino for our 11th year. Although the waves were a bit small this year we all had a blast. The weather was warm and sunny most days. We liked to surf after most people have gone home hence...6:30 pm till dark...therefore dinner most nights was pretty late but wow what a feeling.

Hooked up with Dylan and Devon's buddies Derek Rodway and Jackson Coyes and did some surfing and hiking. Really great spot ...

... timber and wheat although much of the country was too inhospitable to support agriculture.

Hard to imagine Tofino back then but i suspect it was mainly a fishing village until the late sixties when there was finally a surfaced road connecting it to the rest of Vancouver island, starting the influx of hippies which continues to this day. I am trying my best with the beard....

Overcast in the morning and some rain forecast. Went 'downtown' in the morning for a short walk, it's not a big place. Looked at some shops, bought two kids books; First Nations' stories.
Had a great coffee at Common Loaf Bakery.
