The two trips we took can be summed up in one word - wow!!! The first one was whale watching. We were greeted by the owner, a very smiley German guy called Jens. We were then given our "floatation suits" to put on. At first glance, these look a bit over the top, but are actually brilliant as they keep you warm and dry once out on the boat. Salmon Filets in Cedar Paper

Cedar paper is thin strips of cedar wood used to grill salmon as an alternative to a cedar plank. We had fresh sockeye salmon filet from French Creek Seafood.

Juice of fresh lemon
2 salmon filets
Vegetables for packet (we used asparagus and bell pepper)

... up so we thought our luck was in and lunch would be pretty quick. Alas we quickly realised that being a surf town the attitude to time here is very laid back and all a bit 'maņana, maņana'. We'd had to wait for quite a while for our dinner at Tacofino last night and it was the same today at the Wild Side Grill. ... is infrastructure built around surf culture including bikes with surf board racks, cycle trails from beach to town and early warning system for Tsunamis. Should one arrive it is most likely to appear at our back door at which point the advice is to find somewhere higher to go to. I have earmarked a tree nearby and stashed some tinned goods in the branches.
