... think it was the Otters that she was most impressed with. They form 'rafts' where apparently they all lie on their backs and hold 'flippers' together so that they can float around as a wee pack - very cute. She was super charged with that experience!

Then it was back to our resort to relax, pack and get ready for our final leg of the journey back up to Vancouver.

... island. We wanted to walk as many trails along the Pacific Rim National Park as possible. One of our favourite walks of the day was at bog walk. It was a bogged walk amongst waterlogged land which meant the old tree were stunted in their growth and made them form into twisted branches and amazing formations. ... ride was short. We took time walking around and noticing that very little had changed since our last visit. We checked out some shops and galleries and wandered down to the harbor. ... the water. We were seeing a large male orca - or killer whale - whom the crew knew as Niknak. We were told he was an orphan whale whose mother had died. Lone whales do not join other pods when they have lost their own family. He was always sighted by himself and the crew seemed very fond of him. We watched him for quite a while as a he dipped above and below the ocean surface. We had binoculars and could see the black and white markings on his 7-metre body.
