We finally had some sunshine for our journey to Tofino! Long Beach was pretty cool with some huge waves, a couple of surfers, and lots of washed up kelp. We had another fabulous picnic lunch, on the beach and in the sun this time, while we fought off the attention of all the seagulls. We got a few pictures with the digital camera on the beach, but there should be some more awesome pics from Mike's film camera on the way, its been really hard to find ...

Went on a 'zodiac' boat trip to look for whales and visit some hot springs. Very foggy on the way out but saw a bald eagle, some sea lions and sea otters. Weather was a bit cold and visibility low so called it a day on the whale spotting early and changed course to a slightly(!) clearer area. It was amazing what difference 5 minutes made. ... a secluded beach. I got dropped off to go sea kayaking with Paddle West Kayaking at 1pm. I had to wait around for a few tours to leave before we got suited up with a life jacket and spray skirt. ... Shared a ploughmans plate and beer for the driver to get him through the rest of the journey. Would have liked to stay much longer but had some tricky driving ahead. The remainder of the three and a half hour drive was through twisting roads with fantastic views of rain forests, rivers and inlets and the occasional snow peak.
