    ... unbeknown to birthday boy, .........Alain the Chef had baked a birthday. cake (chocolate torte) and organised a barbecue on top deck of the boat for a celebration dinner party.
    We all dressed up, Kevin with his new shirt,had a wow of time!!! With our barbecue chicken skewers, steak, we had potato rosti and
    Desert......out came the birthday cake!!!!!! We asked the crew to join us for dessert.

    ... boat
    Left the Port of Propriano at 11am and sailed North up the coast of Corsico (still French )
    and anchored on the way up to stop for a swim and lunch.

    Beautiful water for swimming and very relaxing. No skiing though not today!!!
    Sailed for about an hour and Arrived in the city of Ajaccio at 6pm.

    Tonight was the night we would take the crew out to dinner. They have looked after us ...

    Sunday 1st August,
    We pulled out of Santa Teresa at 10am and sailed to a protected swimming bay in Corsica.
    Yannick the Captain said he would put the anchor down so we could swim.
    I took photos of Glen hard at work tying us up at the wharf.
    After a beautiful lunch consisting of squid, and scallops with fried rice with a 'divine' tasting sauce and a bean salad. ' oh ...

    ... a slight disappointment because of how late everything seemed to open but Corsica was bustling and vibrant right from the moment we set foot on shore to the moment we returned to the ship.


    We did go on a short tour today which involved a, thankfully, air conditioned coach ride along the coastal road and up to a statue of Napoleon who is Corsica's most famous son. They moan about him a lot and many do not like talking about ...

    ... open sea! Consuming all our water as well as purchasing more drinks, we decided to retreat to the air conditioned comfort of our home away from home and have a late lunch. Then washing , packing and preparing for the evening ahead. Our last night on board:( At 4:00pm we met with the 'new friends' Mary and Jim over afternoon tea.
